Price levels at a glance

The market for preventive total body scans broadly splits into two packages:

  • Standard scan (around €1,500) — MRI of the head, torso and spine, with a written report and a short results discussion the same day.
  • Premium scan (around €2,000 to €2,750) — adds extended cardiac assessment (ECG, cardiac MRI), lung function testing and a broad laboratory panel.

Is it reimbursed?

Dutch basic health insurance does not reimburse preventive examinations. Some supplemental policies contribute up to roughly €250 per year towards preventive screening. Always read your policy conditions or ask your insurer for written confirmation.

Where do clinics differ?

  • Magnetic field strength (1.5T versus 3.0T)
  • Whether a consultation with a doctor is included, or a written report only
  • Whether a second reading by another radiologist is included
  • Reporting speed (same day versus two to three days)
